Passed away peacefully at Welland General Hospital on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Marilyn Schwanz (Young) for 67 years. Loving father of Paul (Evelyn) Schwanz, Kathryn (†Don, 2023) Hancock, and Jeff Schwanz (Diane Gartner). Cherished grandfather of Philip (Janice) Schwanz, Jenn Major, Allison (Josh) Huizinga, Ryan (Cianna) Hancock, Stacie Hancock (Harold Wax), Tyler (Rachael) House, and Madyson (Zack) Seaton; great-grandfather to many; and dear brother of Geraldine (Homer) Riley and Carl (Shirley) Schwanz. Howard was predeceased by his parents, Wilfrid and Edith Schwanz, and his grandchild, Bailey Dawn Hancock (1988). Howard worked at Sylvania Electric, Gains Esso, Phillip’s Transport, and Nanticoke Generating Station. He was a lifelong farmer. Friends are invited to call at BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, April 21, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A funeral service for Howard will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, April 22, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at South Cayuga Cemetery following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation.
