It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in his 59th year. Paul is survived by his parents, Robert (Ann) and Carolyn (Rickart). Loving father of TJ, Derek, Brenna (their mother, Tammy), and Kristin (her mother, Jackie). Dear grandpa to three grandchildren. Paul is also survived by his siblings, John (Kelly), Brenda (Gary), Melinda (Larry), and Shawn (Debra), as well as many nieces, nephews, and his dear friend, Sherry. A loving father, uncle, grandpa, brother, and son, Paul brought a big smile everywhere he went. Uncle Paul always had jokes and stories to share and could make almost anyone laugh. Anyone who knew him has their own memorable experiences of him; he was a ray of sunshine with a Cowboys hat on his head. He loved sports and was an amazing athlete with many friends, from his old ball team and golf buddies to anyone he crossed paths with. He had a unique ability to relate to people and bring a good time wherever he went. Paul was talented at everything he tried. From cooking to building, he wasn’t just a jack of all trades—he was an “ace.” With his masterful carpentry skills, he could bring anyone’s idea to life. He was a hard worker who thrived in everything he pursued, approaching every task with an unmatched work ethic and a positive attitude. The only thing better than his work ethic was his sense of humour. He was tall—and loved to brag about it—and considered himself an expert at air guitar. Paul was loved by all and will be deeply missed. He touched so many lives and brought joy to countless situations. He was truly one of a kind. So many people are better because of having known him. We will all miss his jokes, no matter how many times we heard them. But hey, did you hear about these three kids on their first day of school…? A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Port Dover Community Centre, 801 St. George Street, Port Dover, from 2 to 6 p.m. A memorial plaque has been placed at the Kawartha Lakes Land Trust as a place for everyone to visit and remember Paul. Cremation has taken place. Online condolences may be left at www.serenityburialandcremation.com
