CALEDONIA—Beginning this week, repair work was set to commence on the Argyle Street Bridge in Caledonia. Periodic overnight closures are expected to facilitate repair work. A letter from Councillor Dan Larence on April 19 says that Dufferin Construction was awarded the bid for both the Argyle bridge rehabilitation and Argyle Street South’s road resurfacing.
“One company doing both jobs will hopefully make coordination of jobs easier,” said Kathy Marshall, Coordinator, Caledonia BIA.
The bridge project is targeted for completion in August 2019 and work includes the addition of structural steel support beams to three spans of the bridge to ensure the bridge remains safe and reliable for use by local road users. All work is to be done from on the bridge; no in-water work is planned.
