Caledonia Ag Society prepping for Trick or Treat Drive-Thu

To The Haldimand Press

CALEDONIA—The Caledonia Agricultural Society (and Caledonia Fair) is planning another Halloween Trick or Treating Drive-Thru for the children of Caledonia!

Since children under 12 years old are still ineligible for a COVID-19 vaccination, we hope to promote a safe and physically distanced Halloween that can still include costumed fun for children of all ages.

In 2020, over 1,000 candy bags were distributed. The community contributed $400 cash and over 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food donations for the Caledonia & District Food Bank.

We’re encouraging parents to bring their car full of ghouls, ghosts, witches, and skeletons to the main gate of the Caledonia Fairgrounds between 3 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Our not-so-scary volunteers will corral vehicles into a haunted drive-thru procession through the Caledonia Fairgrounds where guests can Monster-Mash until they reach the Candy Station.

We will then ask our costumed friends to trade their non-perishable food donations (in support of the Caledonia & District Food Bank) for a bag of candy and treats.

We’re asking local businesses and organizations, who are able, to contribute pre-packaged Halloween candy or treats for distribution at this special event. Our volunteers will also be making up a special loot bag for parents, which includes the names of all candy-contributors. We welcome candy contributors to include a coupon, or marketing or promotional materials in the parent loot bag too.

A special thank you to event sponsor Dr. Lorelei Zeiler, Optometrist. For more information or to become a candy contributor, please contact the Caledonia Fair Office by phone at 905 765-6861, by email at                                                        manager@caledoniafair.ca, or on our website at caledoniafair.ca/halloween.

We know it has been another very difficult year for our local businesses and organizations. We at the Agricultural Society have felt the financial crunch caused by the COVID-19 pandemic too. If you are not able to contribute candy, we would still like to help promote your business by including your coupon, marketing, or promotional material in the parent loot bag. We know and understand the importance of doing business locally, and we’d like to do whatever we can to help.

Thanks for your help; Happy Halloween!
