HALDIMAND—The federal government announced earlier this week that it will open the border to fully vaccinated American citizens, who will be able to enter the country without observing a mandatory quarantine period as of August 9, 2021. The new rules will apply to all countries as of September 7.

Adult travellers coming into Canada are required to present proof at the border that they completed a full set of vaccinations at least 14 days prior to entering. Any children under the age of 12 are not required to be vaccinated, but they are encouraged not to participate in group settings such as school, camps, and daycares. The White House has not yet announced a reciprocal deal for Canadians.
