CANFIELD—The Canfield Women’s Institute held a successful educational program on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Canfield Community Centre, featuring The Lions Foundations of Canada Dog Guides.
Barbara Barr, from King City, brought her ‘dog guide in training’ Mandy, a lovable, well-mannered, 14-month-old yellow Lab. Barbara answered many questions from the audience and entertained us with some video clips from their training school in Oakville, Ontario featuring Rick Mercer and some of their trainers and clients. Mandy, while not wearing her ‘working clothes’, was able to walk about and visit to the delight of the audience. With the generous donations received from the event, Canfield Women’s Institute is excited to ‘adopt’ a puppy, a symbolic adoption which will help offset part of a puppy’s regular veterinary expenses during its crucial first year.
