CAYUGA—While the pandemic resulted in many organizations suspending activities, volunteers with the Cayuga branch of Warm Up Haldimand kept their knitting needles and crochet hooks in motion to produce 672 items for donation in 2020.

Lynne Elgersma explains that the group of seven to eight ladies usually meets at the Cayuga Seniors building, but was no longer able to do so when gathering restrictions were imposed last year. In milder weather she says, “We met outside on my lawn, properly distanced in lawn chairs, in the shade under the catalpa trees. It was a wonderful time crocheting or knitting together, sharing patterns, yarn, ideas, and experiences every Monday afternoon.”
