CAYUGA—The CayugaFest committee has made the decision to postpone festivities until 2020, as a result of budget concerns.

“The committee is confident that this decision, although unpopular, will ultimately lead to a better festival,” said Jake Smith, Chair. “We concluded that if we did not postpone the event this year that we would not be able to continue CayugaFest for the years to come. Our plan is simple: retool and revamp, and come back stronger for 2020.”

The committee plans to hold regular meettings throughout the summer and has preliminary plans for the 2020 festival.

“We will learn from this year and move forward,” said Smith.

The committee is looking into potential grants it can apply for, possible fundraisers, and will reach out to other festivals to see where there is room for improvement or cut backs.

“Though disappointed, I would say we are all excited for what we can do with more time and consideration,” said Smith.

CayugaFest is an annual event that started in 2002.

Its goal is to give back to the community, and provide locals with inexpensive festivities.
