JARVIS—December 24, 2020 will be a day long remembered for a husband and wife who live on their family farm on Concession 4 Walpole in Jarvis. While the rest of us were celebrating the holidays the couple, who wish to remain unnamed, were surveying the damages caused by a red Dodge sedan that unexpectedly slammed into the side of their home with enough force to cause structural damage.

“This has been my husband’s home all his life, over 60 years living here. It was and still is a family farm. My husband and son now farm it. We moved into the house over 38 years ago and have slowly been fixing it up over the years,” said the wife. Of the damages, she said, “There’s quite a bit of structural damage. The cement wall needs to be replaced on the west side of the house; the kitchen/dining room floor is heaved; … the impact from the crash made the east side of the house bow out as well. There was also a hole in my bedroom wall.”
