Christmas 1951 in Grosshandorf

Just a few days before Christmas, we sailed up the Weser River to offload the cattle at Bremen, Germany. It was exciting and fulfilling to see our “herd” loaded into waiting trucks just in time for Christmas!
Making a manure pile on their front yard became a way for the recipients to show they were blessed with a living Christmas present from Canada. I was impressed with their humility and frugality. It reminded me of the first Christmas when contented cattle surrounded the manger where Christ was born.
