Community mourns 23-year-old hit-and-run victim
HAGERSVILLE—Haldimand OPP are looking for information after the death of Alexander Dalton, shown inset, in a hit-and-run collision on Friday, April 23, 2021. The vehicle that struck Dalton is the above SUV, which police later recovered a short distance away after it crashed in a ditch. The occupants fled the scene on foot before police arrived and no arrests were made as of publication.

HAGERSVILLE—A 23-year-old man of Missisaugas of the Credit First Nation was killed Friday, April 23, 2021 during a hit-and-run collision on King Street West in Hagersville.

OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services, and Haldimand County paramedics responded to King Street West for a three-vehicle collision on April 23 at 9:05 p.m. A witness reported that a pickup, an SUV, and a motorcycle were involved in the collision. It was further reported that the SUV had fled.

The 23-year-old male rider of the motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A press release from Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Chief R. Stacey LaForme identified the victim as Alexander Dalton, son of Andrea King and Wayne Dalton.
