CANBOROUGH—While spring may still be a month away, the No. 6 Canboro Fire Station conjured the taste of summer at their recent fish fry.
Residents swarmed to the Canboro Community Centre on Saturday, February 21, 2026 for fresh fried Lake Erie perch with a side of fries, coleslaw, a roll, and your choice of pie. The line for takeout meals was continuous, while the hall was filled with over 125 diners through the evening.

High school students were on hand earning valuable volunteer hours by prepping pound after pound of perch, while both active and alumni members of the fire station manned the fryers outside. Meanwhile, additional volunteers looked after attendees, dishing up takeout containers and plates alike.
With the dishes washed and the fryers cold, the Canboro Fire Station thanked its volunteers and attendees. Their next event will be a WingDing on April 18, with all-you-can-eat chicken wings and fries. For more information, call 905-774-4884.
