Construction and Demolition Debris

Dear Trash Talking Trish and Tabitha,

I am in the middle of renovating my house, and each week I have a pile of stuff that I want to dispose of, but am unsure how. Things like light fixtures, light bulbs, flooring remnants, carpet, doorknobs, faucets, electrical outlet receptacles, and the list goes on!

If these items fit, can I toss them in a garbage bag, or should I dispose of them another way? What about empty paint cans? Can I recycle those?

The items that you have listed above are mostly construction and demolition (‘C&D’) items that are actually D-I-V-E-R-T-I-B-L-E! Meaning that we have programs to keep them out of the landfill!
