HALDIMAND—Council was split 3-3 on a vote to support St. Catharines in drawing attention to the issue of unpaid sick days spurring ill employees to continue working even during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The tie resulted in the motion being rejected.
The issue was brought to Council’s attention by Ward 1 Councillor Stewart Patterson, with the St. Catharines letter aimed at putting pressure on the provincial government.
