HALDIMAND—The installation of broadband internet throughout the county is estimated to begin in May 2020.
“This project was identified as a key priority of Council. The project is moving forward and more importantly, it has a schedule,” said Mark Merritt, General Manager of Financial and Data Services.
In an update to Council, staff reported that Torys LLP have been brought on as a third-party consultant to assist with assessing the submissions by the three qualified bidders. The need for a consultant was determined because of “the diversity and complexity of the three qualified submissions” and in order to “ensure the best service is obtained for the best value to the County”, said the report to Council on December 10, 2019.
