HALDIMAND—Haldimand Council approved raising the County’s development charges, increasing the charge on a newly-built single detached home from $12,125 to $19,981 in the municipality’s urban areas.
The new charges come after a lengthy process of research, public engagement, and comparisons to other municipalities led by Gary Scandlan, Director at Watson and Associates Economists Ltd.
Haldimand County Mayor Ken Hewitt thanked Scandlan for his thorough work and said that despite the rising cost, Haldimand is still a competitive place for developers to build.
“Haldimand is competitive across the board with regards to neighbouring counties,” said Hewitt.
