County to establish committee on diversity, inclusion

HALDIMAND—Council voted last week to approve the creation of a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee, with a focus on gaining a greater understanding of the many cultural backgrounds that reside in Haldimand County.

“This proposed committee is coming forward as a result of two things. From the Police Services Board it’s been recommended that this type of committee is useful. Given the changes that are happening in our community with respect to the increasing number of people who are choosing to live here from different backgrounds, different perspectives, we felt it was important that we considered creating a committee to deal with broader issues,” said County CAO Craig Manley.
