CAYUGA—Bill Warnick, of the Port Maitland “On the Grand” Historical Association poses alongside a new painting of Sir Frederick Haldimand, which now hangs outside of the Council chambers at the County’s administration building in Cayuga. The Association had the portrait commissioned, and it was completed by Dunnville artist William Biddle. According to Warnick, he hopes the painting will inspire people to look into Sir Frederick’s history, claiming there is a “lack of knowledge” in the community about its namesake. To read more from Bill on Sir Frederick’s life and accomplishments, see his report on the subject, as well as other interesting information from the Association at port-maitland.ca.
