HALDIMAND—The Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) stirred up some controversy recently with a letter addressed directly to young people aged 12-17 providing them with information about the COVID-19 vaccine, including the fact that they do not require their parents’ permission to book an appointment for themselves.

“The HNHU’s goal is to advance the health of the approximately 110,000 residents who live in the health district and recognizes vaccination as a safe, effective way to protect against COVID-19,” said Kyra Hayes, Director of Corporate Communications and Customer Service for Norfolk County. “The health unit has a duty to ensure the public has access to accurate, reliable information about health topics, including COVID-19 and vaccinations.”
