NORFOLK—Toby Barrett, MPP for Haldimand Norfolk, celebrated another step in expanding high-speed internet access in Norfolk County, marking the beginning of construction of broadband infrastructure that will deliver faster internet access in Wilsonville, Boston, Bealton, Dundurn, Waterford, Townsend Centre, Villa Nova, and Bloomsburg.

Construction of the infrastructure network is up and running with service available by August of 2021. This project is valued at more than $7.5 million. The governments of Canada and Ontario have each committed up to more than $1.3 million towards completion of this project.

The contracts to expand high-speed fibre-optic broadband services in Norfolk County were awarded by Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) Inc., a not-for-profit corporation initiated by local municipalities to address connectivity in Southwestern Ontario.
