The following is part of our search for positive local stories to share with readers.

Disc golfers at the LaFortune Park course in Caledonia who forgot their canteens at home were in luck last Friday, as an anonymous donor placed a cooler full of bottled water at the course’s 12th hole.

The water was free to any passerby, as a gesture of kindness in celebration of Canada Day.

The cooler, simply labelled ‘Canada Day Special – FREE WATER’, also included a request for donations in support of the organization CityKidz, a non-profit organization that offers programming to thousands of children and youth of all ages, according to their website.

Some of CityKidz highlights include distributing 1,925 meals to children monthly, offering support to 650 families through home visits, 43 scholarships given to program graduates to assist in post-secondary education, and 1,275 children enrolled in their programming.
