HALDIMAND—The ditching and drainage phase of the gravel road conversion program has been accelerated to be completed by 2020 in order to complete the conversion program by 2025. About $2.2 million in funding is being moved forward to 2019/20 from 2021-26.
“Further funding moves will be identified in the 2020 capital budget,” said Tyson Haedrich, Director of Engineering at Haldimand County.
In 2009 when the gravel road conversion project was introduced, the estimated completion date of converting all Haldimand gravel roads was 2042. Haldimand Council has increased the funding in multiple budgets to complete the conversion ahead of schedule, most recently moving it up to 2025.
