Dreams come true for Community Living recipients

CAYUGA—The Jennie Deagle Dream Fund, through Community Living Haldimand, helps turn meaningful wishes into reality for people supported by the organization. Created in memory of Jennie Deagle, the fund supports personal dreams that promote joy, dignity, and quality of life.

Bridget and Donald

Among the nine recipients in 2025, Bridget and Donald celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal, a special celebration with loved ones, and a commemorative photoshoot.

Bridget—My dream was to have a special celebration with family and friends for my 25th wedding anniversary. We had a great time renewing our vows, eating a fabulous meal, and dancing and singing to our favourite songs all night long. The night was a perfect evening of celebrating with my husband, family, and friends. Thank you to the Jennie Deagle Dream Fund!

Donald—My dream was to have a special photoshoot with my wife celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a great time with Aleasha Allen Photography at Centennial Park. There were so many beautiful pictures to pick from. The Dream Fund got us a canvas for our friends and family to sign at the anniversary party and one more special canvas celebrating just Bridget and I.

Meagan

My dream was getting my nails done in a spa. I got the experience to have a spa manicure done at the Niagara College Teaching Spa. My dream of getting nails done in a spa makes me so happy. I loved getting the hand massage and picking out my colours for my nails. I chose pink and blue. It was an amazing afternoon. Note: Continuing the journey, Meagan has three more spa manicures booked for the upcoming months!

Neil

My dream was to get a Lazy Boy reclining chair, and I received it from the Jennie Deagle Dream Fund. My dream benefits me because it is easier for my foot care. The guy that comes to work on my toenails has an easier time putting my feet up. It is also a comfortable spot for my family and friends to sit when they visit.

Joel

My dream was to receive a recumbent bike so I could go for bike rides with my family. My dream benefits me because I could no longer ride a two-wheeled bicycle because of my fear of falling. Having my dream come true means that I can once again go for bike rides with my family. Thank you! I am enjoying my new bike.

Jordan

My dream was to get a new bed. I am so happy that my new bed has arrived. My dream benefits me because now my back doesn’t hurt anymore, I have more room in my bedroom, and I have lots of extra storage! Thank you so much for making my dream come true! Thank you, Community Living Haldimand!

Daneel

My dream was to go and see a live play in Toronto. I received tickets to see The Lion King in Toronto with my friends Seth and Ashley from the Jennie Deagle Dream Fund. I got to spend the day with my friends, who also love The Lion King, and it felt thrilling to me to be able to spend the day in Toronto. Having my dream come true was better than any show I have seen before.

Jayme

My dream was to have a swing in my own backyard where I could go out and use it any time I wanted to. I wouldn’t have to wait for it if someone else was using it, like at the park. People I like can sit and swing with me; even Indie, my cat, can come back and be near me when I swing. I love my swing. I can even swing at night and see the stars in the sky.

Kate-Lynn

My dream was to stay at a hotel in Niagara Falls with a view of the falls. I also went to Clifton Hill to explore the activities. I had a lot of fun. I enjoyed a nice pina colada; it was yummy! The trip made me very happy. The experience was great, and Niagara Falls was beautiful. Thank you, Jennie Deagle Dream Fund, for making my dream come true!
