DUNNVILLE—Haldimand County has approved a request from Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) to undertake repairs to the wetland preserve located near Thompson Creek Park in Dunnville.
“Ducks Unlimited Canada has a long history of conservation work in the Dunnville area. Twenty years ago, we began work with Haldimand Norfolk to restore an agricultural field owned by the municipality to wildlife habitat. The project, adjacent to Thompson Creek Park, restored a thriving wetland (1.4 hectares) and established adjacent native prairie grassland habitat (10.8 hectares),” said Owen Steele, DUC’s head of conservation in Ontario.
