DUNNVILLE—It was a dramatic week for the creative group of youth who participated in Dunnville Community Theatre’s first Drama Camp from August 22 to 26, 2022. The camp was offered for youth ranging from Grades 4 to 9, funded by a grant generously provided by the Dunnville Rotary Club. Three adult and two teen leaders provided an excellent instruction-student ratio. “It was so much fun, the week flew by,” said Ellie Bloomfield, who retired to Dunnville six years ago after teaching high school drama classes for nearly 30 years.

“Just seeing the sparkle in their eyes as they created and delivered their stories made it a joy. The thinking skills involved in creating, the problem-solving as they consider the modes of presentation, the interpersonal skills as they work in pairs or larger groups, the confidence-building as they express themselves – drama camp can be just the liberating growth experience kids need.” Dunnville Community Theatre plans to build on this year’s success, expanding the experience and making it an annual event. Shown above are some of the participants.
