DUNNVILLE—I always struggle to get through February, never having been a fan of winter. An unfortunate thought for anyone living in Canada, don’t you think? It is the month that I always think, “If I can just get through February, then March and spring are just around the corner!”

I lean heavily on social events surrounding Valentine’s Day to get me through. If you’re like me, why not come out and enjoy an evening with fellow gardeners at Dunnville Horticultural Society (DHS)’s next Program Night on February 21, 2019. Talk of all things plants, spring and warmer times will be sure to cure your winter doldrums. We will be welcoming Dr. Janice Gilbert, who will be speaking on “Invasive Phragmites”. These weeds are tall and grass-like with a large plume at the top. They have been gradually infiltrating our many marshes, creeks and wetlands. Come find out why they are a scourge to our ecosystem, and what you can do to help eradicate them.
