DUNNVILLE—On Friday, September 4, 2020 the Rotary Club of Dunnville presented bursaries to three well-deserving Dunn-ville Secondary School graduates. Spencer Gifford received the Archie & Cheryl Merigold Construction Bursary toward his three-year construction engineering course at Niagara College. He will receive $1,500 per year over the three years. Gifford said, “I'm very grateful! Throughout college I won’t have to work as much ... this means I won't have to have so much pressure on me and I can focus on my studies more.” Jayden Bousfield and Eve Lockhart each received the one-time $1,000 Rotary Education Bursary. Bousfield said, “I'm taking psychology at the University of Waterloo. My long-term goal is to be a therapist or go into family or couples counselling.” Lockhart will study environmental studies with a specialization in climate change. She added, “This bursary means that I have some financial support. Growing up it wasn’t easy so this is going to help me get where I need to go, get educated.” These awards are typically handed out at commencement ceremonies which, of course, will not happen this year.
