Food Day Canada highlights opportunities to share the story of Canadian food

By Tracey Arts, Director, OFA

Food Day Canada encourages consumers across the country to shop locally and celebrate the abundance of fresh and delicious Canadian food and beverages we enjoy every day. Let’s connect the food we eat with those who grow and prepare it.

On Saturday, August 1, 2020 people across the country joined in the Food Day Canada celebrations by purchasing locally grown and produced Canadian food to support their neighbouring farmers, community, and the local economy. When you buy local, you’re choosing fresh, safe, and nutritious food that is grown right here at home. Many farmers’ markets are open where you can meet a farmer, talk to a local chef, and pick up ingredients for your evening meal. In Ontario, the diversity of our products is extensive as we grow and raise more than 200 different food commodities.
