HALDIMAND—Grand Erie District School Board will be experimenting with a new school year that would start in August. The new schedule will roll out as a pilot program at an undetermined Brantford school for the 2022-23 school year only.

This modified schedule would begin in August, likely following the Civic Holiday. A sample calendar for the 2021-22 school year shows that additional vacation days could potentially be given around Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break, and Victoria Day. With the additional vacation days spread throughout the school year, students in the balanced model will be in class for 187 days a year, same as with the current model.
