Hagersville Chamber Of Commerce update

HAGERSVILLE—The Hagersville & District Chamber of Commerce is an organization of local businesses and professionals who come together to promote economic growth, advocate for business interests, and strengthen the community. They foster a sense of community by encouraging partnerships and economic development.

Below are highlights of some of the activities/events that the Chamber is currently involved with:

Hagersville 150th Anniversary Celebration

In the year 2025 Hagersville will be celebrating 150 years. There will be numerous community celebrations throughout the year of 2025 that will focus on activities that showcase the town’s history, culture, and people. The kick-off event will be on Sunday, January 5 and the key event will be the return of Ag Day for one year only on Friday, June 6. Don’t miss out on these events that will create lasting memories, instill pride in our community, and engage residents in celebrating what makes Hagersville unique.

Hagersville Veteran Banner Project

In October this project was awarded Haldimand County’s Community Project over $10,000. Hagersville currently has 127 banners to honour veterans who enlisted from Hagersville and served overseas.

Hagersville Evening with Santa

This annual event is a great way to celebrate the holiday season and bring the community together. On Friday, December 6, 2024 at 6 p.m. bring your family and friends to enjoy festive floats, holiday music, and the magic of the season. We look forward to seeing you there. Enjoy the parade and then visit the Hagersville United Church both to see Santa and to enjoy the music of the Haldimand-Norfolk Concert Band.

Hagersville Food Bank Drive

Supporting the food bank is essential for ensuring that everyone in Hagersville has access to nutritious food. The food bank plays a vital role in helping those facing food insecurity. By coming together as a community to donate food items, Hagersville can make sure that the food bank has the resources to serve the community. Our Chamber members are planning a “friendly competition” from November 14 to December 6, culminating with the Santa Claus Parade, to collect donations.

Hagersville Farmers’ Market

This is a fantastic way to support local farmers and enjoy fresh, locally grown produce. The market runs Wednesday morning from 7 a.m. to noon at the market square. This is a great place to shop for fresh food but also a community gathering spot that fosters local connections and supports small businesses.

Library and Active Living Centre Project

Construction started in the summer and is projected to be completed at the end of 2025. With a new library, spaces for indoor activities, an outdoor pavilion, and an OPP satellite station, this facility will serve as a versatile hub for residents. It will provide opportunities for learning, recreation, and community engagement in one convenient location. This project is sure to enhance quality of life and bring more vibrant programs to Hagersville.

Blue Light Campaign to honour first responders

The Blue Light Campaign runs every year to honour and remember our fallen officers Sergeant Andrew Harnett and Constable Grzegorz ‘Greg’ Pierzchala. The residents and businesses put a “We Will Never Forget” sign and/or blue light in memory of them.

Three banners have been made to honour Harnett and Pierzchala. They will be placed on the corners of Main and King Street in Hagersville (in front of CIBC, IDA-Cavanagh’s, and the Chamber Office).

The Hagersville and District Chamber of Commerce is urging everyone to “Shine A Blue Light” outside their home between December 27-31, 2024 to support all our first responders. The first responders put their lives on the line everyday to keep us, our families, and our communities safe.

The Chamber will again be selling lawn signs for our town to pay tribute. The lawn signs are 16” x 24” and are double sided. Every sign will come with an H-wire stake. Each sign costs $15. You can pay cash or write a cheque to: “Hagersville & District Chamber of Commerce”. You are encouraged to put the sign on your lawn or in your front window between December 27-31.

The lawn signs will be pre-ordered. See Brenda Gallant at Tim’s Tires in Hagersville before Friday, November 29 to order.

This campaign is organized with the assistance of the Hagersville & District Chamber of Commerce through the Blue Light Campaign Committee: Jason Harnett, Brenda Gallant, and Beverly Petheram.
