HAVERSVILLE—A pair of hattricks helped the Hawks soar past the Mudcats. On Saturday, November 9, 2024 the Hagersville Hawks defeated the Dunnville Jr Mudcats by the score of 8-2 in the Hawks’ nest.
Hagersville’s Cole Jennings opened the scoring at the 5:20 mark assisted by Zack Burman.
Dunnville’s Mark Gibson answered that goal two minutes later with Braedan Deslandes and Brody Scott picking up the assists.
Gibson scored his second of the night shortly after unassisted, taking the Mudcats into the locker room up 2-1 after the first period.
The second period turned however, as it saw the Hawks get six unanswered goals starting at the 6:15 mark when Marcus Lazarevic scored his first of the night on the powerplay with Dylan Wardell and Luke Leblanc picking up the assists.
Lazarevic would score what would be the winning goal at the 9:34 mark on the powerplay with Wardell getting the assist.
Jennings got his second of the night with Damon Decaire and Dryden Cruz-General getting the assists, followed by Trent Chute just 22 seconds later with Bevan Aitchison picking up the assist.
Only 39 seconds after that Lazarevic achieved his hattrick of the game with Chute and Wardell assisting.
Jarett Moriarity scored at the 14:29 mark with Leblanc picking up the assist to finish the scoring in the middle frame.
In the third period there was just one goal scored and that was by Jennings for another hattrick by the Hawks, with Averee Sault picking up the assist.
The player of the game went to Jennings.
Hagersville’s next games will be played on Thursday, November 14 in Dundas and then at home against the Niagara Riverhawks on Saturday, November 16; both games start at 7:30 p.m.
