HAGERSVILLE —Friday, July 5, 2024 at approximately 2 p.m., a transport truck attempting to make an illegal right-hand turn at the intersection of Main and King St. hit a traffic stop light post, knocking it down. Following the incident, the pole was laying partially on the sidewalk and partially in the live lane of traffic. The County’s traffic lights contractor disabled power to the pole, allowing Haldimand’s Roads Operations crew to remove the pole and any debris. According to County rep Kyra Hayes, the light is set to be replaced in the “next couple of weeks,” dependent on the delivery of the new lights and the concrete base repairs needed to mount it.
