Hagersville Lions Club hosts first Chili Cook-Off

HAGERSVILLE—On Friday, January 13, 2023, the Hagersville Lions hosted a chili cook-off at the Hagersville Community Centre. For $10 a person, guests could try any of the 11 chilis that were prepared by Lion members, with the addition of one chili that was made by Lion Dent McIntyre’s daughter-in-law. “We had an extremely nice time and everybody enjoyed it. Everyone could taste as many chilis as they liked,” said Lion Dan Matten. “We are happy to do this event again but we may change the format.” There were 29 guests and $205 was raised by the Lions for this first cook-off, but Matten said he hopes future events will gain more traction and bring more people in.

Dent McIntyre’s child took top honours, winning the cook-off.
