HAGERSVILLE—On Saturday, October 15, 2022 the Hagersville Lions held their annual fall Food Drive in Hagersville. We collected an outstanding total of 2,864.5 pounds.

The Lions have held this food drive for many years now, but this year it could not come early enough because the food bank reported they were running low on many items.

As part of the Food Drive, the Lions distributed an information sheet with the yellow bag last week to about 1,500 doors in town.

Then this Saturday the Lions met at the food bank and split into teams of two or three to collect the food donations.

Fortunately, many residents of our wonderful town answered the call and gave donations. We saw staple items like pasta, beans, cereal, and spaghetti sauce, along with less common items like toilet paper, diapers, paper towels, and many other useful items, including cash donations.

The Hagersville Food Bank had many volunteers, along with helpers from the HSS Crime Stoppers, to receive the donations. They were weighing them, sorting them, making sure they were within the best before date, and shelving the items.

A big thank you to our generous community!

We all feel the burden of the rising grocery and other costs, and yet many people were giving donations. On the other hand, many more people feel the burden of the rising costs and need help from the food bank. This is community, our community, and we are proud of it.

The Lions are also holding our Catch the Ace fundraiser every Thursday at the Hagersville Legion. The Hagersville Food Bank is one of our causes that will benefit from the funds we are raising.

Come over to the Legion Br. 164 on Thursday between 4:30 and 8 p.m. to buy tickets, chat with some friends, have a beverage, and give yourself a chance to win either the weekly prize or the jackpot, which is now at an estimated $9,600.
