Lion Zone Chair Mark Dennis presented with Helen Keller Fellowship Award

HAGERSVILLE—The Hagersville Lions held a regular meeting on March 22, 2022 at the Community Centre. There were 15 lions and three guests in attendance, including the District Governor Geoff Crane and Region Chair Reg Wilson.
A scrumptious meal was enjoyed by all prior to the meeting, which was started at 7 p.m. by Lion Chief Doug Donovan. Our District Governor was in attendance for his official visit and spoke about the resources that Lions International has available for its members. He also encouraged membership recruiting and actively donating to various causes. He then proceeded to present several members with their 10, 25, and 50 years of service chevrons. The members are as follows:
- Bruce Roulston 10 years
- Mark Dennis 10 years
- Dent McIntyre 25 years
- John Harvey 50 years
Various committee reports were presented for upcoming events such as the April Food Drive, Friday 13th lunch, and the Sgt. Harnett Memorial project. Summers End Festival was also discussed and the club hopes to put the event on so long as there are sponsors in place. There will also be another Dog Walk for Dog Guides in May.
Past District Governor John Harvey, together with District Governor Geoff Crane, then presented Zone Chair Lion Mark Dennis with the prestigious Helen Keller Fellowship Award. Dennis was previously President of the Hagersville Lions for two years.
Lion John Harvey said Dennis is very deserving of the award, having taken on various roles to help raise funds for the club and ensure it runs smoothly. Harvey added, “He very seldom misses an event or meeting. He allows us the use of his business for storage of Lions stuff and lets Lions or the public drop off or pick up items.”
