Investigations ongoing for 2018 Pride Day; OPP discussing plans for future events
The Police Services Board and OPP discussed the need to be proactive and protect the interests of individuals involved in celebrating Pride Day in the future. Detachment Commander Phil Carter said there have been three complaints regarding incidents during the 2018 Pride event in Dunnville and as they are ongoing investigations, he cannot comment further.
The Press wrote previously about the 2018 Pride Day, which saw protestors block the stage with large banners condemning the LGBTQ community. Those in attendance reported to The Press that some protestors had yelled threats, while one resident reported having been threatened at his home after a few of the protestors discovered where he lived.
