CAYUGA—In 1971 a group of dedicated curlers banded together to establish a formal curling club in Haldimand County, a club that has held strong for over 50 years.
The club initially founded itself as the Cayuga Curling Club, playing on rented ice in the old Cayuga Arena. Some of the original members included Bev and Murray Richert, Allan and Jane Murray, Gord and Marie Speller, and Bill and Doreen Johnson. Current Board of Directors member Andrew MacDonald explained, “As word got out, the club grew and became the Haldimand Curling Club.”
