CAYUGA—After being forced to shut down because of COVID-19 just before the playoffs in March 2020, the Haldimand Curling Club was able to get back on the ice last October. With another setback in January, we finally crowned a new champion last Friday, March 4, 2022. Glen Rowell’s team (Andy Robertson, Scott Wlodarczyk, Stuart Robertson, and, up until January, Patty Brown) went undefeated all season long, but lost in the championship game to the equally talented team of Laurie Admiral, Joan Baker, Deb Maarhuis, and Keitha Lindsay. Laurie jumped out to a big seven-to-nothing lead before Glen came back to make it 7-6. Laurie’s team then took control and the final score was 14-6. Thank you to all of our members and volunteers who persevered through this difficult time and made our season a great success. If you would like to curl with them next season, send them an email at haldimand.curling@gmail.com. Shown are the champions (l-r): Keitha Lindsay (lead), Deb Maarhuis (2nd), Joan Baker (vice), and Laurie Admiral (skip).
