HALDIMAND—Shawn Rennie of Creekside Apiaries was guest speaker at our Haldimand Horticultural Society Meeting (HHS) May 23, 2019. He presented us with a very informative talk on bees and how they work. There was lively conversation with many questions for Shawn. HHS members learned many interesting facts about bees.
It was also our Spring Mini Flower Show. Competition results are shown above right.
HHS’ next meeting will be June 27, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 27 Orkney St. E., Caledonia. We will learn all about butterflies from Dan Werner, staff ecologist from Kayanase Green Houses. Dan will tell us how to make a butterfly garden and what plants attract butterflies. He will also have some plants available for sale.
July will be a busy month for us gardeners.
July 1: Watch for HHS float in the Canada Day Parade in Caledonia.
