Haldimand OPP recognizes Pride Month
HALDIMAND—Haldimand OPP is showing recognition and joins everyone to celebrate Pride Month. The OPP is flying the Pride flag outside of the Haldimand County Detachment during the month of June. The month of June is recognized as Pride Month across Canada, and internationally, to provide an opportunity to celebrate the victories that have advanced equity and equality for LGBTQ2S+ individuals (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, and others). “The OPP recognizes its responsibility to work with all members of our community towards the goal of creating a safe and accepting environment for all gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations. The raising of the Pride flag is a step towards that recognition and relationship building,” said Haldimand County OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Phil Carter (left). The OPP supports initiatives that promote the equity, inclusion, diversity and acceptance of all individuals in this province. Shown with Carter is Staff Sergeant Belinda Rose. —Submitted photo.
