Have Your Say: Council approves pay raise in wake of federal tax legislation

The federal Liberal’s, in their great wisdom, have decided to remove the one third tax exemption for municipal and provincial elected officials beginning January 1, 2019.

My first reaction was, “It seems that the first order of business was for this new council to vote themselves a pay raise. That does not make for good optics, after all, three of these councillors have only been on the job for five minutes!” But then I cooled off.
