HAGERSVILLE— Local charity Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue is asking for your help to reach its fundraising goals. For one day only on November 29th, also known as Giving Tuesday, a generous anonymous donor will be matching all donations to the horse rescue up to $20,000.

Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue is a safe haven for abused and neglected horses. Brenda Thompson and her husband Dave first opened the rescue in 2007. Since opening, they have helped over 400 horses in need and found homes for over 250.

In addition to providing care and rehabilitation to abused and neglected horses, the rescue also assists members of the community who can no longer care for their horses. Currently, the farm has over 80 horses in their care. Some are permanent residents with special needs that keep them on the farm, others are seized cases through the Provincial Animal Welfare Service and owner surrenders, and some are horses ready to be adopted.

This year’s steep inflation increase has created new challenges for the rescue. Rising fuel costs and inflation have put a strain on horse owners and rescues alike. Giving Tuesday, powered through the Canada Helps donation platform, is a unique opportunity to help these horses. With every dollar doubled, the impact of your donation goes twice as far to help provide essential care for horses in need. Donations can be made online through the Canada Helps webpage.

“You can’t change the world,” says Brenda, founder and president of Whispering Hearts, “but you can change the world for one horse, one at a time, and that’s what we do here, we take it one horse at a time and do the best we can.”

Whispering Hearts Horses Rescue is a registered charitable organization and depends on the generosity of sponsors, donors, and volunteers to maintain its services. Every donation matters to horses in need. For more about Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue, visit www.whhrescue.com.
