HALDIMAND—Imperial Oil has sent a letter of support to Haldimand County regarding the proposed Nanticoke development by Empire Communities that would seek to add up to 40,000 residents and 11,000 jobs to the county.
The letter followed a heated debate between Haldimand County Council and representatives from Stelco the previous week.
“Imperial’s Nanticoke refinery has been operating in the community for over 44 years, providing direct employment for over 500 employees and contractors while producing approximately 20% of Ontario’s transportation fuel,” read the letter. “We are proud to contribute to the quality of life in the community by supporting numerous community organizations and initiatives through donations, sponsorship, and volunteerism.”
