JARVIS—The Jarvis Knitting Club celebrated a milestone at their weekly gathering at the Jarvis Library on September 14, 2023. It was 10 years ago that Wanda Nelson of the Jarvis Library staff had the idea of forming a knitting club at the branch. Along with the regular members, children and men have attended to learn how to knit or crochet. Nelson says, “These ladies have been inspiring each other to try different or new projects.” What began as a group of five has at least doubled over the years with as many as 20 participants at one time. Pictured are some of the Knitting Club members in attendance for the anniversary. Sitting (l-r): Kim Slavinsky, Karen Murchie-Stone, Cathy Hill. Standing: Wanda Nelson, Jarvis Library staff, Jane MacNeil, Laurel Porteous, Christine Pullenaar, Jenny Eggink, and Karen Bootsma. The Jarvis Knitting Club meets on Thursdays, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Jarvis Library.
