Junior C hockey report

HALDIMAND—Two local Junior C teams faced off on January 18, 2019 as the Dunn-ville Mudcats hosted the Hagersville Hawks.

The first period proved to be uneventful with no one finding the back of the net.

Matt Weston opened the scoring halfway through the second for Hagersville, and the Dunnville Mudcat’s Connor Schmalz kept his team in the running with a goal six minutes later.

The first half of the third went slow again until Anthony Grigg scored on the powerplay 12 minutes in for the Hawks.

Twenty-one seconds later Hagersville’s Ralph Taggart expanded the lead before putting it further out of the Mudcat’s reach with a second goal just over two minutes later. Hagersville Hawk Tycie Cowan got the final goal of the night just eight seconds later for a final score of 5-1.
