HALDIMAND—The Hagersville Hawks’ winning streak was snapped January 23, 2019 in a 5-2 loss against the Glanbrook Rangers. Peter Cappucci opened the scoring on the powerplay for Hagersville in the first. Glanbrook scored three times in the second period unanswered. Hagersville’s Ralph Taggart started to bring Hagersville back on track with a quick, unassisted goal early in the third, but the Hawks fell behind again as the Rangers sniped two more goals before the buzzer. Penalties seemed to be an issue this game, with Glanbrook capitalizing on three of four powerplays. Justin Easter made 20 saves between the pipes for Hagersville.

The first period on January 25 between the Hawks and Grimsby Peach Kings was a cold start, with no goals until the second. Grimsby managed to heat up for two goals in the second and one in the third, two of which were on powerplays, but Hagersville was unable to find the back of the net. Jamie Ferguson made 37 saves for the Hawks in net in this   3-0 loss.

Hagersville managed to turn things around the following night against the Port Dover Sailors. While Port Dover opened the scoring, Ralph Taggart and Peter Cappucci took the lead with a goal each before the end of the first. Port Dover tied up the game in the second period, but Matt Weston put Hagersville ahead again early in the third on the powerplay. Taggart put the final nail in the Sailors’ coffin unassisted at the end of the third for a 4-2 win. Justin Easter faced 24 shots in net for Hagersville.
