Knights of Columbus host Hockey Challenge

HALDIMAND—Students from three Haldimand Catholic schools competed in the 2026 Knights of Columbus Hockey Challenge last month.

In total, 143 girls and boys aged 9 to 13 competed from St. Stephen’s, St. Mary’s, and St. Michael’s Catholic elementary schools in Cayuga, Hagersville, and Dunnville.

Each shooter took 15 shots on a hockey net, with a board covering much of the net. Shooters aimed for holes in the board, each with different scoring values. The score sheets of the champions from each division will be compared to the score sheets of the champions from five other schools in Ontario to determine the provincial champion.

As this is still a relatively new program, there are no district or regional competitions yet. The Knights hope that this event takes off and will get more participation at these levels and even internationally next year.
