CALEDONIA—Self-titled land defenders have now been on site at the McKenzie Meadows construction site, renamed 1492 Land Back Lane, for nearly 160 days.
“We’ve maintained our peaceful presence on the land here for five months. Some days are long and hard, and others are filled with laughter and joy. Thankfully more are filled with good stories, good laughs, and an amazing family,” said land defender Skyler Williams in an update on Sunday, December 20, 2020. “If we are to make this stand it needs to be for everyone. We will not let our differences be the story here. Our connection to the land is what unites us all.”
