Mayor Ken Hewitt took a leave of absence from his position throughout the month of May to focus on his bid to become Haldimand-Norfolk’s MPP.
Mayor Hewitt continued to collect his salary, donating it to a charity of his choice. Can he then declare a charitable tax credit? He could have declined his salary from the County – it was taxpayers’ money he did not work for.
