To the Editors,
My sister, Selma Vandermade, and I were born in Ontario, Canada (Hagersville) and we lived in Canada until 60 years ago when we moved to southern California. Our parents, John and Grace Vandermade, had emigrated from Holland and John had a successful painting and decorating business in Dunnville. We lived on Elizabeth Crescent and attended Fairview School (now Mapleview Elementary) and have fond memories of playing various outdoor games with our friends.
We will be visiting Canada for the last time this summer via a Trafalgar trip to the Canadian maritime provinces before arriving in Dunnville. We hope to contact fellow students who attended Fairview School. We will be staying in Dunnville July 20 and 21.
We are requesting that anyone who remembers us from our school days to contact Linda Vandermade and Selma Vandermade at lvandermade5@gmail.com and at alohaselma@sbcglobal.net, respectively, if they are interested in a reunion.
Selma lost her school photos due to a massive fire completely destroying her home in October 2017 that swept through Santa Rosa, CA, where we now live in northern California. I am attaching two photos from my early years at Fairview School.
